Whom does it suit?

Air walkers, including this one, best suit new to intermediate level exercisers.  Very fit people will not find them to be sufficiently challenging.

People with mobility issues will appreciate this model’s open design and static handlebars that provide easy access to the footplates.

Folding to store, it’s a great option if you have limited free space in your home.

Air Walker Benefits

Similar to an elliptical machine with set resistance, the air walker provides a low impact, total-body, calorie-burning workout.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends adults partake in at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise or 75 minutes of intense aerobic exercise each week.  According to the health authority website MayoClinic.com, the benefits of doing this include increased energy, improved mood, and better sleep.

Regular aerobic activity, such as that provided by an air walker, has also been proven to lower cholesterol levels, reduce the incidence of obesity-related diseases, and aid weight management.

Air walkers can be used to tone and strengthen the upper and lower body and improve flexibility.  With the Air Walker LS, you can exercise one leg at a time or both simultaneously.

How Many Calories Will I Burn?

The number of calories an individual will burn using an air walker will vary.  Factors that influence this include the user’s weight and how much effort they exert.

On average, someone weighing 160 pounds will burn approximately 365 calories every hour they use an air walker.

A 200-pound person will burn about 455 calories exercising at the same intensity for the same length of time, and someone weighing 240 pounds will burn around 545 calories

Stability, Smoothness, & Noise level –

A rubber base with rear stabilizers enables the air walker to sit level, preventing it from rocking or tipping over if your floor is uneven no matter how hard or fast you go.

The gliding action is smooth, comfortable, and whisper-quiet.  You will be able to watch television, listen to music, or converse while working out.

Folding & Unfolding –

This model folds to approximately half of its assembled size, making it compact enough to store in a corner or closet.

Folding involves removing a pin, lifting the walker’s base, then reinserting the pin to lock the unit to the handlebar’s post.

Reversing these steps will unfold the air walker when you want to use it again.

Monitor –

A built-in LCD monitor displays Time, Step count, the Distance covered, the number of Calories burned, and your Pulse rate in large, easy-to-read text.

The console is very user-friendly, with the Mode button controlling all of its functions.  Pressing it or starting your workout will power up the console.

You can view a single metric or keep pressing Mode briefly to rotate through all manually.

Alternatively, you select Scan to cycle through your stats automatically, with each showing on the screen for several seconds before moving to the next.

Pressing and holding Mode will reset your metrics to zero.

Heart rate monitor –

The fixed set of handlebars integrates stainless steel pulse sensors for tracking your heart rate.

Pedals –

Large, 15″ long textured slip-resistant footplates provide safe and secure sessions that will place minimal impact on your back, ankles, knee joints, and feet.

Transport wheels in the front base allow you to easily move the ProGear 360LS Air Walker after folding it if required.

This air walker comes 90% pre-assembled.  All you need do is take the unit out of its box, unfold the frame, and connect the console.  This will take around 15 to 20 minutes.  You’ll find instructions in the box.

ProGear 360LS Air Walker Cons

  • Set resistance

As is typical with air walkers, the resistance level of the ProGear 360LS Air Walker cannot be adjusted.  Some purchasers have attached bungee cords to make their workouts more challenging.

Changing your stance and grip will enable you to target different muscles.

  • Quality

Some purchasers expressed disappointment at the quality of the device.  Others, however, have stated that its quality is perfectly acceptable, given its low price.

ProGear 360LS Air Walker Summary

The ProGear 360 Dual Action Stride Air Walker LS Elliptical has everything most new exercisers look for in an air walker.  It’s not gym quality, but it doesn’t claim to be.  It is sturdy and quiet with a smooth motion.  It is also reasonably priced, and it provides an effective cardio workout.

Unlike most air walkers, this one offers both lateral and backward and forward movement so you can target different muscles.  Add to this its dual-action arms that offer an effective upper-body workout, and you have a machine that will tone you from head to toe.

And, after you finish using it, you can fold it to store.

Most buyers who have left feedback are happy with this air walker.  Most negative feedback is due to the machine lacking variable resistance.  For more advanced exercisers, this means the workouts it provides aren’t enough of a challenge.

Some reviewers also said that the calories burned stats displayed are not accurate.  Cardio machines that calculate calorie burn use algorithms to give an average readout based on research and the results of test subjects.

For an accurate reading, a machine with the facility to enter details such as height and weight is required.  This would come with a far higher price tag than the ProGear 360LS Air Walker.

All things considered, this model is a great option for new to intermediate-level exerfcisers looking for an affordable air walker that allws them to grow their fitness.
